Topic #9: The Second Great Awakening

          The Second Great Awakening was a Protestant revival movement that took place during the early 19th century. It began in New England and was strongest there, however it also spread throughout the rest of the United States. The Second Great Awakening expanded ideologies and religion through revivals and emotional preaching, all contributing to an era of reform. Finally, it led to the creation of numerous colleges, seminaries and mission societies.
